V à F
Born in France in 1958, Jean-Michel Correia now lives in Montreal, Canada. An artist in visual arts for nearly 40 years, he studied at the École supérieure des beaux-arts in Dijon and the École nationale d’architecture de Paris-la Villette.
In the summer of 2002, Jean-Michel Correia stayed in the village of Brante, in Vaucluse, where he dedicated a month to preparing his exhibition “From V to F,” intended for Quebec. In this endeavor, he aimed to pay tribute to Vincent Van Gogh and Francis Bacon, seeking to establish a dialogue between these two artists. This quest proved to be a challenge for the abstract artist, pushing him to refine his approach to contemporary painting.
To enrich his palette, he used pure pigments from Roussillon, near Brante, which gave a new brightness to his works. The centralized structure of this abstract art painting evokes Bacon’s dynamic, while the deep, muted pictorial vibration recalls the essence of Van Gogh’s work. Today, Brantes stands as a striking example of contemporary abstract paintings, offering collectors a timeless contribution to Canadian art.
